Instruments for Understanding Yourself and Others
Discover Performance can help you maximise your teams functionality, effectiveness, cooperation and workplace culture, by providing tools to help you understand your own and others personality and behaviours.
The Myers-Briggs Type Inventory helps you to understand different personalities, and how they interact and work together. The Life Styles Inventory tool reduces the gap between one person’s perceptions of themselves and how others perceive them.
Myers-Briggs Type Inventory
The ‘Myers-Briggs Type Inventory’ (MBTI) tool seeks to make sense of the seemingly random variation in human personalities by categorising behaviours to construct a personality profile. Based on the theory that each person, to varying degrees, has a preference to each of four dichotomies, each person can be categorised into one of sixteen personality profiles.
These profiles help to explain how people will react to various management styles, and difficult situations. They highlight an individual’s strengths and weaknesses.
Benefits:
- Understand the differences in personalities
- Understand which personalities respond to what management techniques
- Understand what motivates personalities in the workplace
- Adapt yourself and your work place to bring out the best of every personality type.
Life Styles Inventory
The Life Styles Inventory seeks to improve an individual’s behaviour and style by providing 360-degree feedback. In the first stage, individuals are given the opportunity to look closely at themselves answering a behavioural questionnaire.
The second stage asks a range of people work with the individual - colleagues, superiors and subordinates - their perceptions of the person and their behaviour, (in a constructive, confidential and non-offensive manner).
The LSI then generates a report on the differences between the way you see yourself and the way others see you.
Discover Performance then develops a plan with you to narrow the gap between the two, allowing for improvement in your thinking and behaviour that will lead you to a more productive and functional work life.
Benefits:
- Identifies behaviours that may be blocking effective performance
- Compares self-perception and other-perception of your behaviours
- Breaks down barriers between work colleagues
- Allows for self-development opportunities
